#TechniqueTuesday - Mounted Cross Choke
Jun 01, 2021Owning the mount is the first key.
- The #1 goal of the mount is to keep them pinned for as long as possible.
- Violent Hugging: One of your arms will always be crossfacing your opponent at all times. Avoid having your head directly over their head. Aim to have your head outside their shoulders.
- Feet in, knees out: Aim to have your toes touching and your knees spread wide. Proper leg position makes your body heavy and directly connects you to their hips.
Don't rush the grips
- Take the time to adjust this grip. Take all the slack out so that your first grip is deep enough to be applying significant choking pressure.
- Circle around his head for the second grip. Don't allow your head to pass directly over his face.
Finishing tips
- Anticipate the bridge at all times while working for your second grip. Be sure to be posting at 45 degrees far over their head.
- Post and use your elbow to turn the chin to expose. Remember, we don't need to be in the collar, just gripping the fabric over the shoulder.
- Drop your head on the same side as your second hand. Use it for base as you pull your elbows up past your ribs to get the finish.
