#TechniqueTuesday - Open Guard Headquarters
Mar 30, 2021Some key details to focus on while you're watching this...
- Focus on leg positioning
- Recognize that one of the most important parts of playing guard is keeping your legs in the inside position while denying your partner the ability to build a connection.
- Focus on connection
- Aim to make your partner work at all times. Have a constant push-pull connection and make them carry your weight.
- If your partner stands up, you need your hips off the mat.
- Focus on the grip fight & transitions
- Focus on denying your partner access to your legs by maintaining your guard position with movement & grip strips.
- Every time you break a grip, look to advance your control rather than just resetting back to neutral.
